Steps to Make Smoked Ribs

Prepare the Ribs

Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. Trim any excess fat, leaving about 1/4 inch for flavor.

Apply the Dry Rub

Mix your favorite spices (brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt) and generously coat both sides. Let sit for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Prepare Your Smoker

Heat smoker to 225-250°F. Use your choice of wood (hickory, oak, apple, or cherry). Add water pan to maintain humidity.

Smoke the Ribs

Place ribs bone-side down on the grates. Smoke for 3 hours without wrapping to build up a nice bark.

The Wrap (Optional)

After 3 hours, wrap ribs in foil with a little butter, honey, and brown sugar. Smoke for 2 more hours wrapped.

Final Stage

Unwrap ribs, brush with your favorite sauce, and smoke for the final 1 hour until meat pulls easily from the bone.

Rest and Serve

Remove ribs and let rest for 10 minutes. Cut between the bones and serve while hot. Enjoy!
